situation as the nearest Spanish population to Portugal did
of Badajoz in the epochs of struggles and conflicts a frontier
seat of strategic fundamental importance; while in the times
of peace, the same proximity to the neighboring country converts
it into enclave not less importantly, on having offered horizons
of unlimited possibilities of widening and projection to it
in all the fields, given its privileged situation. Regarding
its geographical concrete location, Badajoz develops from
the nucleus seated originally on one of the two hills that
flank the Guadiana in the point in which the appearance of
geological hard materials ahead, force the river to describe
a sharp draft towards the south.
