Cuenca
is one of the most former cities of Castile. It is placed practically
in the center of Spain, in the skirt of the Iberian System and
to scanty distance of the Toledo Mounts. Both circumstances
define the strictly highland character of the city. This character
is estimated not only in the urban structure but especially
in that of its municipal term, one of the major ones of Spain
in surface, since it occupies an extension of 945,61 square
kilometres, which they include from the limit with the province
of Teruel up to a bit more to the south of the city. To all
this space one names it generically, Cuenca mountain ranges.
