León's province occupies a surface of 15.581 Km2, being the most extensive of the nine that integrate the Autonomous Community of Castile and León and the seventh one in the national calculation. Located in the northwestern end of the above mentioned community, among the 4 º 44 ' - 7 º 5 ' of Western length and the 42 º 1 ' - 43 º 14 ' of Northern latitude , is characterized first of all by a great landscape diversity product of the factor combination as much physical as human beings; a diversity that individualizes it opposite to the bordering provinces of Asturias and Santander in the North, Palencia in the East, Zamora and Valladolid in the South and Orense and Lugo in the West.
