The name of the region comes from the fact that is " at the foot of the mountains ", the impressive Alpine tops with famous ski resorts as Sestriere, Bardonecchia, Limone Piemonte. Its principal city Torino is a baroque center of art and has one of the most important Egyptian museums in the world. The Piedmont is a great industrial center and the wine (Barolo and Barbera)produced in the southern hills is particularly important. Monferrato and Colinas Langhe are famous for their magnificent food, the wine, typical product and the estimated White Truffle.
